About Encore Dance

Encore Dance is an incredibly fun way to spend your time and energy.  Here are some of the characteristics of Encore Dance:

• The dance is performed in a circle and is done to salsa music, which is very uplifting
• The moves are “called” improvisationally by the “caller”.  Everyone then performs the moves at the same time
• The dance is a community in that you all work together to make it happen
• Moves are taught and yet they are never repeated in the same order so the dance is always different, new, and fresh
• The ‘lead’ and ‘follow’ roles are played by everyone.  In other words everyone will learn to direct the moves and everyone will learn to execute them.
• No matter how tired you might feel when you arrive, you will be more than energized when you leave
• Since everyone learns all the parts, you can come by yourself
• You will leave with lots of new friends
• The group energy tends to grow thus making the dance more playful, fun, fast
• It is mentally challenging in that you have to remember moves in a split second.  Your mind will feel more alive.
